Christmas Wishlist - Edited (December 5)

Writing down my Christmas Wishlist as I might forget (since I do have a lot to put on this list! hehe).

It's actually so much fun to think of the things I'd like to have for myself.  It's like my way of saying to myself that I've done a great job this year and deserves a pat on the back and a little treat for my soul. :)

In progress. Just a little behind schedule. 1.  Code: SR - It's something that I have been working out for myself in the last couple of months.  It's actually only very recently (and I mean like a week ago) that I've put it into practice.  They say, to make something a part of your habit, you need to do it in 21 consecutive days. Well, I still have 34 days to go until Christmas! :)

Check! 2. Point and Shoot Camera - hope to get this one from SG. No particular brand in mind yet but something that's not too expensive! Will need it to document my SG trip and the last few weeks of Year 2010.

In progress. Check! 3. Phone Line - yes, I know I might be the only 28 year old girl who is still on Prepaid. Honestly, never really had the reason to get a line before.  And I'm only getting a phone line this time because of the free phone!

Check! 4. La Senza PJs/Underwear - I'm such a cheapo! I can't seem to buy myself these things from my own money kasi nanghihinayang ako! I won't feel as bad if they're given to me as gifts though. hehehe!

5.  Reindeer Tumbler from Starbucks! - they're just cute! need to change my tumbler in the office too. Not getting any GV from that one.

I want the Journal from Fully Booked instead! :) 6. Belle de Jour Diary (aside from CBTL's Journal)

7. Long Champ Canvas Bag - crossing my fingers that one of my sisters got me this for Christmas! They said they wrapped my Christmas gifts already. hmmm, nuninuninuu.. what could they be? :)

Maybe next year. 8.  External Hard drive - thinking of getting one from SG too.. but it doesn't seem to be a priority anymore. We'll see...

Early 2011 New Year's Wish (Resolution)!

I usually make my list after New Year's eve, but this time I wanted to do it early so I could prepare myself for the coming year.

Actually, tonight's discussion with friends made me realize things that I still want to do.  So for now, I've narrowed them down to my top 5!

TOP FIVE! (but in random order of priority)
1.  Take minimum of 2 subjects per term in MBA
2.  Save more. Set aside more than the usual. Be a wise spender. --> in preparation for my business. :)
3.  Quit Smoking!
4.  At least 2 personal travel trips abroad (HK is almost in the bag.  And then NZ.) Business trip is something else.
5.  Read more books. Minimum of 12.

I'm pretty sure this list will still be edited sometime in the next 2-3 months but at least it's a start. Just looking forward for an exciting year ahead!

Easy A! & Social Network!

Yes, I watched another movie this week.  Actually 2 movies- Easy A and Social Network (again) - but I don't feel like giving any comment on these right now.  I have another reality bites kind of point in mind.

It's a cliche when you say it's easier said than done, but it's very much true in our everyday lives. It takes more than your usual will power to do the things that you said you would. Classic example is the mere promise of not smoking.  A lot of smokers would promise that they they'll have their last stick but will still end up buying a whole pack the next day. So imagine how much harder it will be if you're faced with more important things which you know you're supposed to do...

To expound further... I have something that I need to do, not just because it's the right thing but because it's something that I really need to do for myself.  Simply put, I need to take the higher road. I need to love myself more and treat myself better.  I need to teach them how to treat me right.

I'm in this crossroad where all the cards have been laid out already and yet I seem to have been ignoring these facts.  Logically, he's being a total ass but surprisingly in my mind, I could still make up excuses for him. That's how twisted my mind is when it comes to this hullabaloo. Also, rumors have been running around, thus I have made a few enemies along the way (but no regrets on that one). I'm  like Mark Zuckerberg sans the Billion Dollars and Emma Stone without Todd Lobster. And just like them, at the end of the day, I know what else needs to done.

I'll need to step up and find another perspective in all of these. I won't even say that I'll try to do it, I'll just need to do it. Again another cliche, it's all in the mind. 

I know it's not going to be an easy ride from now on (it never was), but I also know that there will surely be a better ME after all of these. Cheers to the New Guru and to a better life ahead! :)


P.S. I'm thankful for true friends who keep me sane. You guys already know who you are!

Song or Movie Title?

Yes, call me jologs but I really wanted to see a tagalog movie.  Been awhile since the last one... it might have been a Kim-Gerald movie as well, I think. Hahaha! But seriously, I'm not a big fan!

Lyrics and MP3: Till My Heartaches End - Ella Mae Saison

Well, that's 2 straight movie nights for me. Megamind and this.  I think you might have guessed by now that I'm a frequent movie goer.. To prove my point, I actually recently watched 2 movies in one afternoon.  The other one was even an Italian movie, but with subtitle of course! In fact,  in a month's time, I usually watch a minimum of 3 movies.  That's how badly addicted I am -- a habit (or addiction) that I'd rather not have. Come to think of it, it's an expensive lifestyle for a mere bank employee like me (hihihi). It's as expensive as drinking Coffee in Starbucks and Coffee Bean -- but that's another story.

Anyway, the point of this post is to know why they keep using songs as movie titles... Have Filipino writers gone tired of thinking of interesting ones? I hope not. What if there comes a time when we've used all the songs in the OPM list already? What now? I suppose that would be a feat!

I actually met a movie writer recently and was truly amazed by his sheer wittiness.  He keeps me hopeful, that other writers are also just like him and that they would allow themselves to think out of the box.  Para saan pa na tinawag silang Creative People in the Movie Business, right?  Or is this also part of movie politics and commercialism? Sad if that's the case.

So my challenge for the movie business is that hopefully, they would be more creative in their movie titles next time.  The analysis on the usual plot of the story is something else and deserves another post.

All in all, it was a fine movie.  Nothing much was expected anyway.  Just wanted to have a feel good movie on a Sunday night -- to prepare myself for another busy week in the office.

Review: 3 Stars - it was so-so.  For movie purists, there's really no such thing as a bad movie.  It's the genre and the kind of people watching it that would make the difference in the result of the review.

Megamind is such a funny movie! I heard people saying that it's even funnier than Despicable Me.  True enough, I had more laughs seeing this movie. Gotta love how he says Metro City (sounds like atrocity), Revenge (pronounced as Ravange), and School (said as shool).  :)

There's also a refreshing twist to the plot.  I don't get to see much movies anymore where the bad guy turns out to be good in the end. It makes me hopeful that yes, it might happen too... that there is a possibility that people could really change for the better no matter how bad they might have been in the start.  And it only takes some plastic bird in a cocktail glass as a turning point in one's life. (For those who haven't watched it, there was a plastic bird toy in one of the scenes in the movie.  That's the time when Megamind was contemplating about his purpose in life.)

The moral of the story?  That we have a choice in our life's destiny.  I think this is very much true.  Circumstances and events could only take us to a certain point in our life but it's our ultimate choice where it will take us.  Our life is all about making choices and we just need to make the right ones.
